Pair of 19th-Century Bronze Cavaliers on Nero Portoro Marble

0 out of 5

Pair of 19th-century cabinet bronzes from Palermo, depicting armored horsemen on rare Nero Portoro marble bases. A powerful collectible with dramatic movement, refined detail, and impressive weight.

Description

This pair of cabinet bronzes presents two armored horsemen in contrasting but complementary scenes: one in a moment of triumph on a rearing horse, the other in a stately procession. The modeling emphasizes the details that matter most in bronze sculpture, including helmets, armor joints, horse harnesses, and the textured relief of the caparisons.

The figures are mounted on bases of rare Nero Portoro marble from Liguria, whose deep black surface and white veining create a luxurious contrast with the bronze. Together, the materials give the pair a strong presence, making it an excellent choice for a desk, mantel, or formal interior where a collector’s object can serve as a focal point.
